Winter wonderland

What a lovely backdrop a flurry of snow in the Lake District and a cosy warm pod to shelter in.
I went to check the pod out and it was a little chilly outside, but when i opened the door and went inside it was warmer than outside, and there is not heating in it yet... this is down to the great insulation factor.

Warm in winter.... Cool in summer... Ideal to keep those overheads down.

Environmentally friendly:

Our unique materials allows you to build earth up on both sides of the structure/pod and across the roof, the pods have been designed in such a way that it actually collaborates with additional stability and strength of the finished structure,
Instead of it being a dead weight like other structures can be, and would require additional strength to be added to support the weight. Our technology used in these earthworks is an evolution of various methods of earth construction, stabilization and designed it for the living earth and vegetation covering by Grass or Sedum or other Eco-friendly materials available.
Covered the pod/s with soil/earth adds additional thermal mass and reduces your running costs, especially during the cold months, whilst providing carbon recycling, oxygen production and airborne pollutant removal. The technology allows the pods to adapt to any type of topography, either flat, unusable banked areas and areas with moderate slopes or even can be built into a hillside to blend into the environment.
Many planners like our product and the way in which we manufacture as it is kinder to the environment and NO TREE'S HAVE BEEN HARMED IN THE PROCESS.

Why we use Foam and Fibreglass !

The below is to help you understand why we used foam & fibreglass as our materials to build pods.....

Fibreglass:
As you well know fibreglass boats have been around for years, and can cope with constantly sitting in salt water year after year. The material is long lasting, versatile and strong, so why not use it for building structures along with foam boards.

Dense foam board:
As you well know this type of insulation is used one way or another in most construction methods as a form of insulation to a main structure. What we wanted to do is instead of adding the insulation board to a main structure, was to in fact use it as the main structure and the fibreglass for the strength capabilities. We can make our structures as thick or thin as required, all we do is use different thickness's of foam board. We can adapt the shape to suit whatever is required and then infuse the fibreglass matt and resin on to the board.

Insulation:
Dense foam board works in two ways.
It is very warm & cosy in winter, but reverses and is cool in the summer.
So during the colder month's your running costs are kept to a minimum, as the complete pod is cocooned in dense foam board including the floor,

Colour:
We can replicate just about any colour you wish.

Design:
We can replicate just about any shape or design you wish, add additional wall/s, larger pods & so on..
Maintenance:
Our pods need little to non for the first 10-12 years due to the thickness of the topcoat we add.
Against wood where they need regular maintenance.

Lifespan:
We restrict our lifespan to 50 - 60 years, but in fact we know it will last years beyond this time.
Against wood that only has around half the lifespan.

Conclusion:
So now you see why we use foam & fibreglass as our material, and hope this clarifies and answers any negative thoughts you may have had. Regarding negatives.... we have yet to find any...... Do you know of any ?

The reason behind the domed shape !

When we first started designing, we wanted something that would be both versatile, strong and could be used for multiple uses:
  •  Additional pods bonded together to create multi occupancy for larger families, all bonded joints so as no water can ingress.
  • Buried underground.
  • Have a living roof.
  •  Lightweight for tree houses.
  • Ideal for flood plain areas.
  • Do not rot.
  • Lifespan of between 50 - 60 years.

Coming Soon !

We are currently designing a new tiled outer walls and roof pod, to offer the aesthetic look of the one on our home page. The design looks stunning.
